Time for another weekly recap!

I skipped last week's recap because I just got too excited about everything that was released and spent all that time working on… well what I'm going to tell you about in this email.

So let’s go.

1. My “Slopcore” video

After Opus 5.5 was released, one of the main use cases people started discovering was how good it is at making videos.

One of the genres that emerged was so-called “Slopcore” videos 😂 Basically, catchy music videos entirely generated by AI.

One of the really popular ones was this one by Anabology, which has given me an extreme earworm.

So I had my own go at creating one. I didn't expect much of it, but as it always happens when you don't expect it… the video went absolutely viral. It's sitting at 800k+ views on Twitter now. Insane. Even got quote tweeted by the founders of Shopify and Lovable.

Interestingly, this has also kind of changed my opinion on AI music. I always thought there's no way people will listen to it because you want the human element and so on.

But after creating these and listening to them myself, I can definitely see a future where AI music takes over. It's just so good. Let me know if you agree or disagree.

2. Created FrameJam

As I've been diving really deep into this video editing use case, I started to notice a couple of things.

One is that video editing is going to change forever. I think the classic video editor interface, with the timeline and all the buttons, is a thing of the past.

It's kind of like using Photoshop now in a world where there's AI image generation. Yes, it might still be used by a small fraction of people, like professionals who need to make super precise edits. I don't think it will go away completely.

But it's kind of like the transition from Photoshop to Canva, and then AI image generators. The same thing is happening with video editing.

As I was editing, I started realizing that I needed a video editor I could just talk to and that listens to my feedback in a natural conversational way.

So I created FrameJam.

First just for myself, because I wanted a tool I could work with to edit my videos. Then I decided to open source it and make it free so other people could use it as well.

Here's my Twitter launch post if you're curious:

3. More free skills

I published a bunch of free skills again.

The first is the shortform creator skill. You give it a raw shortform video, and it turns it into an edited version. Super useful if you want to save costs on hiring a video editor.

I also published my WebGL music video skill, which is a really fun one with a bunch of use cases.

The original example came from this funny VC pitch video, which is where I got the skill from and adapted it.

There are lots of cool ways you could use this skill, like making a personal intro video, launch your product or package an explainer or tutorial this way.

(You'll find the skills under the “skills” section)

A nice win from the community

Katie left a really nice comment in my community this week.

A little life update

I've been putting a lot of thought into AGI recently after seeing more and more of these posts and discussions online lately. Trying to think deeply about what life will look like after it's here and how to prepare for it.

I feel a lot of pressure, but also excitement at the same time. Might share my thoughts some other time. Curious to hear what you think.

Also, I'm at home in Berlin this week while my partner and son are traveling, so I think it will be one of my most productive weeks ever!!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Moritz
